Fort Worth Heart is proud to work closley with Roche Labortories in establishing our "Point of Care" comadin clinic. Our clinics see over 1200 pateints monthly to have their Coumadin levels checked, have on going education and also the emotional support they need. Coumadin is commonly called " the blood thinner." There are a few restrictions and rules when taking coumadin but our staff of coumadin nurses are well trained and always available.Our Director of Comadin Services, Sue Virdell, R.N., is certified in anticoagulaton therapies, and has an excepitonal staff in Jolene Sarter R.N., Shelia Morris, L.V.N. and Monica Flores, L.V.N.. Point of Care clinics provide immediate results- no waiting for lab results to adjust couimadin. We also provide on-going education and are ready to assist when patients have special needs due to other medical procedures that impact their Coumadin therapy. It is goal of each comadin nurse to take the apprehension out of taking Coumadin and assist the patient in living with Coumadin.
