(1) Medical Assistant- must have 1 year experience (Bi-lingual Spanish Speaking preferred)
Duties:
· Prepare rooms for the day. Performs general housekeeping duties for rooms and equipment as needed.
- Reorders medical supplies with supervisory approval.
· Escorts patients from reception area and rooms and prepares them for provider examination.
· Performs finger sticks for coagucheck, lipids, and glucose. Prepares documentation for lab work outside the facility.
· Completes or arranges medical tests, as ordered by the provider. Performs specialized testing (if properly trained and certified), e.g., EKGs, Holter Monitor, King of Hearts Event Recorder, and exercise treadmill test.
· Inspects incoming laboratory reports and relays to assigned physician for review and signature. Notifies patients of laboratory results and physician instructions and files reports in patient’s chart.
· Provides patient education and instruction
· Answer phones and scheduling appointments as needed.
· Assist front desk or fill in for the front desk when needed.
· Pulls charts. Files documentation in medical records charts.
· Assists with patient transport to the hospital Emergency Department or other onsite location.
· Refills prescriptions by telephone and fax according to physician instructions and documents appropriately into the patient’s chart.
· Obtains physician review and signature on all patient record documentation relating to care given under established written protocols.
· Holtor monitors and event recorders- hook up device for patients, download device for processing, retrieve reports for physician to read, and maintain supply stock and accurate record log.
· Promotes teamwork and cooperative effort.
· Performs other responsibilities, duties, or tasks as assigned by the Manager/Administrator.
Requirements:
- Medical Assistant Certification
- Travel to other clinics as needed with or without prior notice; must hold valid Texas Driver’s License
Physical / Mental Requirements:
· Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
· Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours.
